Corporal Dennis Miller Obituary (1954

Dennis Miller, 65, of Tulsa, OK passed away September 9th, 2019 surrounded by family after his three year battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer. Dennis Michael Miller was born to Betty Griffis Miller on March 4th 1954. He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota and raised in Alabama. He and his family were members of the Salvation Army. During a Salvation Army summer camp, at the age of sixteen, he met the love of his life Christine. Dennis graduated from Frankfort American High School in Germany. Dennis entered the United States Army in 1974. This began his law enforcement career. His training, experience and abilities were numerous and diverse, including receiving a Masters of Science with a Major in Law Enforcement. In the United States Army, Dennis served as a Drill Sergeant, Drill Sergeant Instructor, Air Assault and Military Police Officer. He retired as a Master Sergeant with an honorable discharge after 22 years of service in 1996. Dennis became a Federal Uniformed Lead Police Officer, DOD/DOA Provost Marshal Office, Ft. Detrick, MD from August 1998-December 2005. In 2007 Dennis joined Tulsa County Sheriff Department as a deputy and retired in 2016. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion, Founding Member, Law Enforcement Museum and the Disabled American Veterans. Dennis spent his life in service to his country and community. He was a wonderful and loved husband and father. His belief was in God, family, country and community. Dennis received the Metal of Valor for going above and beyond the call of duty in 2012 from the Oklahoma Sheriff's Association and Tulsa County Sheriff's Department. He was also the runner up for the Tulsa County Sheriff Deputy of the year. Dennis was fun and had a sense of humor. Loved music and had a deep love for animals, especially for their rescued senior Italian greyhounds. Dennis Miller is survived by his wife Christine Miller and two daughters Kim Atkins and Melanie McIntosh.
