Delbert Eugene Cavanaugh, age 86, of Sand Springs, passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2010 in Broken Arrow. \r\r\n \r\r\nBorn January 18, 1923 in Greeley, Colorado to Fannie Anspaugh and James Morton Cavanaugh. He passed away November 4, 2010. He was the first in his family to receive a high school diploma. He served honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II and spent some time in England and at Wendover, Utah. \r\r\n \r\r\nOn August 3, 1947, he married Yvonne Husman who remained his loving and devoted wife for 63 years. They had four children. Del enjoyed working as a carpenter for many years. He eventually retired from Wycon Chemical Company in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he had been the Procurement Manager for many years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, pitching horseshoes, and playing cribbage. He had a special talent for telling lengthy jokes with complicated punch lines. \r\r\n \r\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers as well as his two sons Curtis Lee and Craig Charles Cavanaugh. \r\r\n \r\r\nHe is survived by his wife Yvonne of Sand Springs, and daughters Lynn Venghaus of Forest Grove, Oregon and Cynthia Hargrove of Sand Springs, Oklahoma as well as four grandchildren: Anthony and Jeffrey Allen, Leslie Winchester and Pamela Smith. He leaves behind one darling great-grandson, Jack Winchester \r\r\n \r\r\nFuneral services will be held on Thursday, 2:00 p.m., November 11, 2010 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church with Reverend Don Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs. \r\r\n \r\r\nArrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dillon Funeral Home of Sand Springs.
