Dr. Jeff McIlroy, MD passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was 55. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dillon-Marler-Dighton Funeral Home in Sand Springs, OK. A Celebration of Jeff's life will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa with Greg Taylor and Dale Bresee officiating. Private interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Public visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, and will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home and family will greet guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Legacy Chapel at Dillon-Marler-Dighton Funeral Home in Sand Springs. Jeff held a Medical Degree from Oklahoma University for twenty-six years with a Board Certification in Geriatric Psychiatry and served as Medical Director at Claremore Regional Hospital for the duration of his practice. He owned a widely respected outpatient behavioral health clinic called Strength of Mind which had offices in both Claremore and South Tulsa. Some of the organizations Jeff was involved in include, Oklahoma representative for the Fair Tax, a Member of the American Psychiatric Association, Board member of Tulsa Christian Foundation, Committee member of Every Nation Mission Foundation, and served as President of River Hill Home Owner's Association. He was known by friends and family for his ability to love deeply. He inspired all who knew him to live life bigger and brighter. He was a brilliant thinker, woodsmith, and loved tending to his land. He was a consummate lumberjack and built a beautiful log cabin on the land behind his home in Catoosa. He was real and honest man. Jeff was known for his passion for unity in the Lord's church and served as an elder at the Journey Church in Tulsa where he and his wife have attended for over forty years. He was an amazing, talented and well known man of God. His wife, Teresa, was the love of his life. His two children, Austin and Ali are his beautiful legacy. Jeff is survived by his loving wife Teresa of the home; son, Austin McIlroy and wife Lisa of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Ali Rae Groves and husband Ryan of Malibu, CA; father, Kenneth McIlroy and wife Trudy of Catoosa, OK; mother, Ruby Brown of Catoosa, OK; four siblings, Brian McIlroy and wife Jennifer of Cedar Park, TX, Christa Newburn and husband Clay of Layton, UT, Angy Purget of Hulbert, OK, and Renee Petty and husband Anthony of Hulbert, OK; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Gary and Gail Southern of Broken Arrow, OK; two sisters-in-law, Jananne Hillenburg and husband Mark, and Tracy Reynolds and husband Chris all of Broken Arrow, OK; one step-brother-in-law, Michael Southern and wife Julie of Wagoner, OK; nineteen nieces and nephews, Taylor Hillenburg, Hunter Hillenburg, Emily Reynolds, Jack Reynolds, Gabe McIlroy, Michael McIlroy, Devon Newburn, Spencer Newburn, Brittany Richardson, Chase Newburn, Kenjillen Newburn, Sanonna Newburn, Jeremy Lett, Travis Lett, Sammie Dodd, Sophie Southern, Lilly Southern, Audrey Southern, and Jack Southern; seven great nieces and nephews; and a host of close friends, colleagues, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by one brother, Faron Purget; step-mother, Fonda McIlroy; paternal grandparents, and maternal grandparents.
