Fay Griffith

–

Sand Springs, Oklahoma

Othella Fay (Doss) Griffith was born on May 27, 1938 in Ringling, OK to Alonzo and Ruby Doss. On January 22, 2023 surrounded by family, she entered the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Fay was one of seven children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Ruby Doss; 4 brothers, Alonzo, Cecil, Don and Valton Doss; her husband of 50 years, Wilbert Griffith; grandson, Wyatt Griffith; and granddaughter, Sara Rutherford.

She is survived by her son; Danny Griffith and wife, Teresa of Tulsa, OK; daughter, Sheryl Rutherford and husband, Stan of Glenpool, OK; and son, Tim Griffith and wife, Barbara of Kellyville, OK; 8 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brother, David Doss and wife, Janice of Newalla, OK; and sister, Betty (Doss) Chambliss of Colorado Springs, CO.

Fay was born in Ringling, OK and later moved to Pauls Valley where she met and married Wilbert Griffith. During the next five years their children were born. Her husband's employment moved them throughout the state before ending up in Glenpool OK in 1970 where she lived for 52 years. While her husband worked she was a stay-at-home mom, raising three kids, making sure their needs were met and always providing three square meals a day. The exception to this was in 1966 when she went to work at Modern Book Bindery at 23rd and Jackson in Tulsa. She worked there about a year. After she left she did not return to work until her kids had graduated in 1976. Upon the request of her friend, Cleo Cook, she went to work at Oral Roberts University in Accounts Payable where she worked for five years. She left Oral Robert and went to work at Hillcrest Medical Center in Accounts Payable in 1981 where she worked for nine years before retiring to care for her husband whose medical issues demanded her time.

She enjoyed time with family, being outdoors, traveling and putting puzzles together. She loved music and was a member of several square dance clubs.

Fay attended Carbondale Assembly of God where she loved to be helping in the kitchen, helping with the youth, or listening to Pastor Phil's sermons, which she thought were the best and a whole lot of us say "AMEN".

Her beautiful soul, bright smile, kind heart and loving spirit will be forever missed.

We wish to say a special thank you to Glenwood Skilled Nursing and Good Shepherd Hospice for their care.
