James Lumsden, 95 of Sand Springs passed from this life in Sand Springs, Ok on Friday, August 26, 2022. James was born in Bokoshe, Oklahoma on July 15, 1927. James took Marie Holsonbake as his wife in Kenefic, Oklahoma on December 23, 1947. James and Marie celebrated over 64 years of marriage before her passing.\r\nJames' hobbies over the years included hunting, fishing, aviation (he owned a Cessna 150) RV-in, owned race horses and softball. In his very early years James played baseball for the Texas minor league. He even pitched a "no hitter" on one particular outing. Although, his baseball career came to a halt at the impending birth of his first child, his love of the game never waned. \r\nJames & Marie moved to Tulsa in 1953 and eventually moved to Sand Springs in 1955 where they remained the rest of their lives. During these years James tried his hand at many business endeavors, even owning an APCO gas station at one point as well as being a part time greens keeper at the Sand Springs golf course. He eventually worked as a machinist for many years before leaving to start his own business, a steel pipe yard. One in which his son, Ron and wife Kathy now own and operate.\r\nJames was an avid learner, mostly self-taught. But a very intelligent man. At age 95 his computer skills were always on display. Not many 95 year olds can email, text and buy and sell on the computer. He spent many hours buying and selling everything imaginable from Craig's List such as cars, lawn mowers, tires, you name it. Many times, one of his kids would have to "undo" something and offer a simple explanation to Jim that it was just operator error. But he was not deterred and continued to learn and use the computer daily.\r\nBut of the many talents that James possessed, what motivated him the most, what gave him the most joy can be summed up in one word, FAMILY. Both James and Marie were an only child. But somehow they managed to instill in their children the importance of family. There isn't a kid, grandkid or even a great grandkid that James didn't go watch play in whatever sport they were in to. He particularly loved little kids and always welcomed them with a big ole hand clap and outstretched arms and said, "come see Pawpaw".\r\nJames is survived by daughters Sandy Simpson of DeLand, Fl and Regina Rash and husband Paul of Sand Springs, twin sons Robert Lumsden and wife Janice of Sand Springs, Ron Lumsden and wife Kathy of Sand Springs. Grandchildren, Shanon Norris and husband Troy; Jennifer Harger and husband Darran, Greg Lumsden and wife Chassidy, Andrea Anderson and husband Chris and Jason Schneider. Also surviving him are 13 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. \r\nPreceding him in death is his wife Marie, parents Ed and Laura Lumsden and grandson Chris Jones.
