Joan Durham Taylor, a longtime resident of McKinney, Texas, was born on December 29, 1944 in San\r\nAntonio, Texas to Woodall Durham and Mildred Marcella Horn Durham. Joan went to her heavenly\r\nhome while at her beloved vacation spot in South Padre Island on October 18, 2020. Joan attended\r\nMcKinney schools throughout her younger years. She graduated from McKinney High School with the\r\nclass of 1963 where she was active in softball and cheerleading. Joan married her high school\r\nsweetheart, Bill Taylor in 1963. They actually met in Jr. High School, have been together 65 years, and\r\nmarried 57 years. Joan's working career consisted of working at South Western Bell, McKinney Job\r\nCorps, Wysong Hospital and for Collin County. In 2004 she retired from Collin County following 22 years\r\nof service. Joan was an avid traveler and liked to spend as much time as she could traveling with family\r\nand friends. Her favorite vacation was anywhere near a beach or the mountains. When she wasn't\r\ntraveling you could always find her in the backyard planting and caring for Mildred and her flowers.\r\nThere wasn't a flower or plant she didn't know how to care for. Joan is survived by her Daughter Tami\r\nTaylor Haynes of McKinney: Son Billy Taylor Jr. of McKinney: Grandchildren, Taylor "Tater Bug" Greene\r\nand husband Tony Greene of Fairview, TX: Alison "Ali Gator" Haynes of McKinney: Clara "Butter Bean"\r\nTaylor of McKinney: William "Little Man" Taylor III, of McKinney: Great Grandchildren, McKenzi "Cookie'\r\nof Fairview: Rory "Monkey" of McKinney: Brother Joe Durham of Palestine, TX: Sister Judy Lang of\r\nSpearman, TX: Brother in law Robert and wife Judy Taylor of Tulsa, OK. Joan's family also includes family\r\npets Sweet Lucy and Fredrick Hopper: numerous nieces, nephews, and other family. Joan was preceded\r\nin death by both her parents Woodall and Mildred Durham, husband Bill Taylor and multiple family pets\r\nshe so dearly loved. Joan's life will be celebrated November 6, 2020 at 2:00pm at the First United\r\nMethodist Church in McKinney TX. A reception will be held following the committal service at Bry and\r\nJenny Taylor's 1933 Pembroke Lane, McKinney TX 75070.
