Lela Chambers, longtime Sand Springs resident, passed away at her home with family by her side on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the age of 79.\r\nArrangements have been entrusted to the care of Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 6, 2017, at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home's Legacy Chapel. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery, Sand Springs. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home.\r\nLela was born on September 22, 1938 to Leo Fred Spencer and Edith Thigpen Spencer in Olive, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Charles Page Class of 1956. After graduating she worked as an insurance customer service rep all her working years. \r\nLela married the love of her life, Orville Eugene Chambers on May 3, 1957, making their home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma for 60 years. Together they had one son, Larry Chambers. \r\nLela was very active in her church and loved to play the piano. She was a very kind and humble person, she loved being around people, and always saw the positive in everyone she met. She also, loved animals, especially her dogs, she loved being outdoors and living in the country.\r\nLela is survived by her husband, Orville "Gene" Chambers of the home; one son, Larry Chambers and wife Michelle of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; three brothers, Larry Spencer and wife Pat of Maryland, Gary Spencer of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Glen Spencer of Mannford, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betty Poeschel and husband Al of Claremore, Oklahoma and Helen Potter and husband Mart of Pryor, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; cousins and extended family and friends.\r\nLela was proceeded in death by her parents; one sister, Evalea Todd.
