Marvin Hartung

Marvin Lawrence Hartung, passed away peacefully at his home in Sand Springs on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the age of 86. Marvin was born in Manhattan, Kansas on August 19, 1929 to William and Hattie (Hooper) Hartung. He was raised in Kansas and moved to Sand Springs in 1943. Marvin was married to Jewell Dean Hartung (Dickerson) on November 15, 1947; they were married for 68 years. Marvin started working for Sheffield Steel in 1952 and retired "officially" in 1980. During his retirement years, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and aggravating his wife.
He is survived by his wife Jewell of the home, daughter ,Rebecca (Becky) Wickett and husband Delbert of Cleveland; son Joe Hartung and wife Joyce of Owasso; grandchildren, Christy Reese and husband Kevin of Tulsa; Brian Wickett and wife Donna of Tulsa; Terri Hoipkemier of Sand Springs; David Wickett of Cleveland; Athena Smith and husband Josh of Owasso; and Hypatia Hartung and Aaron Stone of Owasso. He is also survived by two great granddaughters and four great grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Billy Hartung and Bob Hartung and daughter, Carolyn Marie Hoipkemier.
