Mary Edith Morand

–

Sand Springs, Oklahoma

Mary Edith Morand, born on September 11, 1948, in Annapolis, MD, to Carlos and Katherine Lester. Her light dimmed on December 24, 2024, leaving a lasting glow in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.

Mary was a long-time resident of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, a woman of strength, resilience, and unyielding faith. As an Office Admin for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT), she showed commitment, diligence, and professionalism throughout her career. However, her heart truly belonged at home, where she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mary's world revolved around her beloved sons and her cherished grandchildren. A dedicated fan of the OU Sooners, she loved watching them play. She also found joy in watching her boys play sports, their victories becoming her victories.

Mary was an active member of the Church on The Move-West, Tulsa, OK where she found solace and strength. Her faith was an inspiration to many and her love for worship, a testament to her commitment to her beliefs.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flake, son, Shawn Morand, parents, Carlos and Katherine Lester, and brothers, Glenn and Marley Lester.

She is survived by her son, James Morand and wife, Kelli, granddaughters, Shelby Woodruff and Shelton Keeler, grandsons, Seth Jackson and wife, Alison and Kade Jackson, sister, Kathy Wayson and husband, Kevin, and dear friend, Michael Morand.

To quote Helen Keller, “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”

A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. CST at Legacy Chapel-Dillon Funeral Service, 1200 North Cleveland Avenue, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, 74063. We encourage those who shared in Mary Edith's life to join us in honoring her. To keep her memory alive, we invite you to share your memories, stories, and photographs of Mary on her memorial page. In remembering, we keep the essence of our loved ones alive and ensure that their lives continue to touch others.
