Melvin Evans

Melvin J. Evans, age 77, of Sand Springs, passed from this life on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home.

Melvin was born on September 10, 1935 in Sand Springs to Ralph and Margaret Catherine (Clark) Evans. He attended school at Sand Springs High School also known as Charles Page High School and enlisted in the United States Army. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Melvin became a self employed Contractor working only by word of mouth with the help of the friends at Morrow-Gill Lumber Company. He married Lourdes Bongcag December 23, 1972 in the Philippines and the couple made their home in the Springs area. Melvin loved fishing, hunting, but most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his wife Lourdes Evans of the home, two sons James Russell Evans of Tulsa, Mark J. Evans and wife Ina of Sand Springs, three daughters C.J. Devin of Tulsa, Theressa Devin of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Laura Evans of Springdale, Arkansas, a brother Ray Evans of Tulsa, a sister Darlene Mae Cook and husband Tom of Kattie, Texas. Eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Margaret Evans.
