Norman "Dale" Blevins

–

McKinney, Texas

In Loving Memory of Norman “Dale” Blevins
March 18, 1942 – April 30, 2025

Norman “Dale” Blevins, 83, of McKinney, Texas, was called home to be with
his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2025. Born on March 18, 1942, in
Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Clarence and Lochiell Dickey Blevins, Dale lived a
life marked by deep faith, generosity, and devotion to his family and country.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved
wife, Sharon; daughters Gayle Ritch Scoggins and husband Brian, and
Jennifer Johnston and husband Jason. He was a proud granddad to eleven
grandchildren: Kayla Anderson and husband Bobby, Kirsten Ritch, Kyndal
Ritch, Jantzen Johnston and wife Lexi, Jack Johnston, Jocelyn Johnston,
Jordyn Johnston, Jentry Johnston, Brilee Scoggins, Kinsey Scoggins, and
Brodie Scoggins; and great-grandfather to Jaxton and Jace Johnston.

A devoted Christian, Dale believed with all his heart in the saving grace of
Jesus Christ and looked forward to his eternal home in heaven. He most
recently worshipped at Central Church of Christ in McKinney, Texas, and
previously served as a deacon at 38th Street Church of Christ. His walk of
faith also included service at Lakeside Church of Christ in Sand Springs,
Oklahoma.

Dale started a puppet ministry that brought Bible stories to life for the
children. He faithfully organized the distribution of Thanksgiving and
Christmas baskets at church and generously supported Christian
organizations throughout his life. Dale’s heart for missions led him to
sponsor seven orphans and fund the digging of six wells in Africa through
Christian Relief (as far back as when Baxter started it as John Abraham Foundation).

His calling to the ministry extended beyond church walls. While living in
Kansas City, Missouri, after a job transfer in 1991, Dale and Sharon
ministered to prisoners through Bible studies and preaching.

Dale’s professional life began after graduating from Charles Page High
School in 1960 and Spartan School of Aviation in 1963. He began as an
airplane mechanic with McDonnell but found he did not like the assembly
line work. He then accepted a job with TransWorld Airlines (TWA), where
he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. In 1965 he joined the
Naval Reserve as well as becoming a licensed pilot and purchased a small
plane. Many exciting stories go along with owning that plane. He kept it
until 1973 when the youngest daughter, Jennifer, was born because it was
no longer large enough for his family.

Though he loved aviation, Dale was a farmer at heart. He filled the family’s
four-acre property with animals—cows, horses, sheep, goats, hogs, geese,
and chickens—not all at once, thankfully. He even built a barn from the very
rocks in the garden, a testament to both his determination and the condition
of the soil. Ask Jantzen about his encounter with a rooster and Kirsten about
her experience with a goat.

Dale’s life was one of purpose, faith, and love. He leaves behind a legacy of
service, strength, and cherished memories that will live on through all who
knew him.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Christian Relief Fund (CRF).
