Ora Doris Moon

Ora Doris Moon, a longtime Sand Springs resident, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Green Tree Assisted Living in Sand Springs, OK at the age of 92. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Dillon Marler Dighton Legacy Chapel in Sand Springs. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery, Sand Springs, OK.

Ora was born on December 19, 1925 in Redland, Oklahoma to the late Charlie and Minnie (Jennings) Phillips. She grew up in Redland and graduated from Hayworth High School. After graduating from high school, during the War she worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a Riveter. Ora met the loved of her life Elbert "Al" Moon and they were married on December 5, 1946 in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to this union Patty, Rhonda and Randy were born. She worked as a manager of the Western Union Office then attended beauty school and became a hairdresser. Ora fixed hair for numerous women in the community. She was a member of the Sand Springs Church of Christ and also attended the Tulsa International Church of Christ. Ora loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ora is survived by her son Randy Moon and wife Linda of Coppell, TX., daughters Patricia "Patty" Tockey and husband George of Sand Springs, Rhonda Herriman and husband Sam of Sand Springs, OK., grandchildren Sean Tockey and wife Sarah, Matt Tockey and wife Melissa, Jacob Herriman and wife Kylie, Juliann Massey and husband Will, Josh Moom, Marissa Wright and husband Cody, and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elbert "Al" Moon and six siblings.
