Peggy Ann Wimbish passed away peacefully on September 7, 2026, at the age of 88.
Peggy was born on February 16, 1938, in Henrietta, Oklahoma, to Vincent “Poppy” and Hazel Wilson. After graduating from Okmulgee High School in 1955, Peggy was awarded a one-year scholarship for playing the clarinet. She went on to become a bookkeeper, where she discovered her love of numbers.
Peggy helped many small businesses with their bookkeeping and accounts. One of the businesses she worked for was a grocery store that could only pay her in canned goods—which worked out quite well with three small children at home!
In 1976, Peggy joined the team at the Petroleum Club of Tulsa. During her 31 years there, she became known not only as a source of light and joy among her coworkers, but also as a bookkeeping whiz. Her talent with numbers allowed her to pursue another passion—helping others. Peggy volunteered her time preparing annual tax returns for those who could not afford the service.
Her years at the Petroleum Club also gave Peggy the opportunity to meet many wonderful people, including politicians, celebrities, and CEOs. Most importantly, she formed some of her closest and lifelong friendships, including her beloved “TU buddies.” Peggy held University of Tulsa season tickets for 26 years, and all her friends and family knew better than to invite her anywhere on game day—because she would be at the game!
At the age of 70, Peggy began volunteering at St. John’s Hospital, where she completed more than 8,000 hours of volunteer service. She loved making patients smile and brought warmth and kindness to everyone she encountered.
Peggy was a woman of strong faith and a lover of the Lord. She cherished every moment spent at church and treasured the fellowship of her church family.
After retiring, Peggy enjoyed spending time at her favorite place—the Grand Canyon. She loved its beauty and the memories she made there.
Peggy was blessed with three children: Cathy, Richard, and Conny; four grandchildren: David, Christopher, Christy, and Richard; and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Randy; sister-in-law, Jackie; and many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent “Poppy” and Hazel Wilson; her daughter, Cathy; her husband, Bud; and her siblings, Ron, Betty, and Judy.
A viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2026, at Dillon Funeral Service, 1200 N. Cleveland Ave., Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
