Rev. Joe "J.D." Lancaster Obituary (1939

Rev. Joe Dean "JD" Lancaster, age 74 of Afton, formerly of Sand Springs, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 23, 2014 in Sand Springs. JD was born on December 19, 1939 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to James Jerome and Lottie T. (Jones) Lancaster. He graduated from Sand Springs High School in 1958. J.D. served his country in the Air Force from 1958-1960. He loved his country and was proud to be a member of the military. On November 23, 1960, JD married the love of his life, Joylene Snodgrass. After the air force, he worked for Meadow Gold & Flint Steel in Tulsa and later worked for Sheffield Steel in Sand Springs until retirement. JD loved the Lord and rarely missed a chance to introduce His Lord and Savior to those he knew and met. JD was a dedicated pastor from 1982 until his recent retirement. He began his pastorate at Oak Hurst Baptist Church in Tulsa and retired from First Baptist Church in Spavinaw, Oklahoma. JD was a humble example of a Christ-like man. He always made time for sports games, graduations, family gatherings and anything else that was important to those around him. He loved his family and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Sheila Phillips and husband Paul of Sand Springs; three sons Joe Lancaster of Sand Springs; Kevin Lancaster and wife Loretta of Ketchum, OK; Ed Lancaster and wife Stephanie of Sand Springs; three brothers: John Lancaster, James Lancaster & Jack Lancaster and one sister, Marjorie Goins-Cate. Also surviving JD are ten grandchildren: Bryson Phillips, Shawn Phillips, Kendra Lancaster, Michael Phillips, Amanda Lancaster, Melissa Phillips, Jakob Lancaster, Kelsi Lancaster, Taylor Lancaster and Avery Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Lancaster; Mother, Lottie; Father, Jerome and wife, Joylene Lancaster.
