It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a remarkable man, Richard Wayne Gillard. Born on February 1, 1947, in Tulsa, OK, Richard passed away on September 11, 2023. An adage by Mark Twain comes to mind when reflecting on Richard's life, "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time."\n\nRichard, a long-time resident of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, was a pillar in his community. He served diligently as a Security Officer, contributing significantly to the law enforcement sector before his retirement. Richard's dedication, commitment, and courage in the line of duty were admired by many, leaving an indelible mark in the hearts of his colleagues and those he served. His legacy will continue to inspire and resonate within the community he so dearly loved.\n\nRichard was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Gillard; son, Rick Gillard; sister, Saundra Beckwith; and his parents. His compassionate spirit and love for life remain in his surviving family: his children, Rachel Sander and her husband, Christopher, of Sand Springs, Debbie Gillard of Tulsa and daughter in law, Beth Gillard; his grandchildren, Dustin Gillard, Mitchell Gillard, Kendrick Gillard, Hannah Sander, CJ Sander, Eiriana Sander; and four great-grandchildren. Richard's love for his family was boundless, and his memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those he loved.\n\nTo quote Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose.
