Sylvia LaVerne Phelps

Sylvia LaVerne (Robinson) Phelps, age 75 of Sand Springs, OK passed from this life on Monday, November 18, 2013 in Mannford, OK.

Sylvia was born to Jesse F. and Nina C. (Hobby) Robinson on January 7, 1938 in Princeton, Kentucky. She graduated from Central High School in Evansville, IN. Sylvia married Jimmie Phelps on May 21, 1956 in Shawneetown, ILL. In the early 60's Sylvia and Jimmie owned and operated Phelps Antiques and The White Star restaurant in Evansville, IN.

Sylvia worked at various restaurants and was a longtime dedicated employee of The Burger Bank in Evansville, IN. Sylvia loved animals especially kittens and enjoyed crafts.

She is survived by her two daughters; LaBlenda (Phelps) Salazar and husband Charles of Sand Springs, OK. and Kimlya (Phelps) Shirley and husband William of Newburgh, IN., sister-in-law Sharon (Phelps) Jennings and husband Virgil of Evansville, IN., four grandchildren; Brandie Varner and husband Brian of Mannford, OK., Wesley Salazar and wife Heather of Sand Springs, OK., Jennifer Meyer of Newburgh, IN. and Nikole Knapp and husband Tim of Wadesville, IN. Also surviving Sylvia are ten great-grandchildren.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Phelps and her parents Jesse and Nina Robinson.
