Ted Wallace, 80 of Sand Springs, Oklahoma passed from this temporary life to his permanent life in heaven on Thursday, January 26, 2017 in Sand Springs. Ted was born April 13, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, a son of Naomi Estelle Winters Wallace and Kirby No Wallace. He married Jean Martin Wallace on May 30, 1956 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ted worked in steel manufacturing as a shop superintendent and served in the United States National Guard Reserve.\r\r\n\r\r\nTed graduated from Central High School, Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1954. Ted started working for Grant Manufacturing right out of high school. He began his career sweeping and cleaning the shop. By the time he retired in 1999, he was shop superintendent. He drafted plans, supervised production, and designed various utility truck beds.\r\r\n\r\r\nTed married the love of his life, Jean Martin, in 1956. They made their home in Sand Springs for sixty years. They raised two daughters, one son and a foster daughter.\r\r\n\r\r\nTed was an avid fisherman, who taught his children and grandchildren the love of fishing. He loved quail, pheasant, and duck hunting. He spent many hours training bird dogs how to hunt and retrieve birds. \r\r\n\r\r\nTed was a huge fan of any activity his children and grandchildren participated in. Whether it be getting horses ready for his daughters or granddaughters competition or cheering his grandchildren on in wrestling, basketball, volleyball, football or soccer, Ted was their biggest fan. \r\r\nTed loved God, family, friends, and animals. He taught us to see the beauty of God's creation and love through nature. \r\r\n\r\r\nTed spent the last several years of his life managing with Alzheimer's disease. He was made comfortable his last few weeks on earth at a nursing home. We thank our family and friends for all the prayers and support Ted received. Special thank you to two little friends, Leah and Catelin, for their prayers.\r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Wallace of the home; one son, Mike Schexnider and wife Rhonda of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; two daughters, Stephanie Thomas of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Dr. Sharolyn Wallace-Bowman and husband Charlie of Skiatook, Oklahoma; one brother, Troy Marrs of Erick, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. \r\r\n\r\r\nViewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2017 with family to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cleveland, Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Dillon Marler Dighton Funeral Home's Legacy Chapel, 1200 N. Cleveland, Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063.
