Valton Jerald Childers Obituary (1932

Valton Jerald Childers was born on July 13,1932 in Ringling, OK to William Harrison and Ada Olive Childers. He departed this life for heaven on February 6,2022 in Tulsa, OK. Valton married JoAnn Hawkins on November 2,1948 in Claremore, OK. They were happily married for 73 years. Valton loved sports and enjoyed watching and cheering on the OU Sooners, Berryhill Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, New York Yankees and the OKC Thunder. He served faithfully as a deacon at View Acres Baptist Church for many years and also served on the State School Board and the local Berryhill School Board for 35 years. Valton loved the community of Berryhill. Valton was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and their spouses, Troy Childers, Doug and Hazel Childers, Royce and Faye Childers, Howard and Faye Childers; his sister and her spouse, Edith and Buck Stroud and infant sister, Bernadine Childers; nephew, Troy Allen Childers and niece Glenda Wyse. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, JoAnn Childers, of the home in Berryhill; children, Gregg Childers, Valerie and husband, Danny Dolan, Lourrie and husband, Darren Lightfoot; grandchildren, Danny Childers, Gregory Childers, Daniel and Andrea Dolan, Adam and Courtney Dolan, Aaron and Kylie Dolan and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Valton have been entrusted to the care of Dillon Funeral Service in Sand Springs, OK.
