Bill passed from this life on January 8, 2020. He was 88. Bill was born on June 20, 1931 to John B. and Jewel (Stubbs)\r\nStevens near Oswalt, Oklahoma, on the family farm. They lived there, and on several other farms in the\r\narea. He went to school in Thackerville until the family moved to New Mexico in the early 1940's. Bill\r\nhad 5 brothers. They farmed several places in New Mexico, and he graduated from High School in\r\nArtesia, NM. He Joined the US Air Force as a Jet Mechanic. After the Air Force, he went to the\r\nUniversity of NM and earned his Bachelors in Civil Engineering.\r\nBill moved to Tulsa to work at the US Army Corp of Engineers, where he worked until he retired. He\r\njoined First Baptist Church, which is where he met Ruthie Mae Smith. They were married November 17,\r\n1962. They had 3 children.\r\nThey were both very active in the church. He taught Sunday school and helped in the nursery with\r\nRuthie. Bill received his Masters Degree in Engineering from OSU while raising his children.\r\nHe enjoyed tending to his flowers and plants, especially Roses. He enjoyed looking for and collecting\r\nrocks, cutting and polishing them. We stopped at many rock shops on family vacations.\r\nBill was preceded in death by son Duane Maurice who died at birth, his parents, two brothers - Kenneth\r\nand Ara Lee, and his loving wife Ruthie Mae. He is survived by his three children William Allen and his\r\nwife Robin of Tulsa, Brian and his wife Sue of Amarillo, TX, and daughter Karen of Plano, TX. His two\r\ngrandsons, Coy and Dakota of Amarillo, TX, and three brothers - John W, Douglas, and Earl.
